The class of 2017/18 out and about around the district

On a beautiful Sunday morning in mid October, one of our Oxford Rotarians, Philip, led his annual walking tour of Oxford for our Scholars. We learnt lots more than we would from a guidebook or from many of the other tours of the city, and the best time of year for this too – before classes and reading take over the scholars’ lives.

The annual walking tour of London as another popular event in our social programme for our Scholars. Led by David and taking in some of the big sites of the city.

Windsor & Eton Rotary Club organises a visit to Windsor Castle and Eton College each year. Another hugely popular event with the scholars and fortunately another beautiful day this year. We visited the state rooms and St George’s chapel within the castle. We then walked through town to Eton College for lunch followed by a very special tour of the college by Paul, a member of Windsor & Eton Rotary as well as a senior member of staff at the college. We learnt about the origins of the college, how the boys are taught today and we visited some of the amazing new buildings as well as the original buildings.
